Architecture Interior Design Trends For Better Homes
By James R Blunt
To pursue a career in architecture interior design, one must
complete a rigorous course of study focusing on architecture,
structural systems design, heating and cooling systems, safety
standards, sustainable development, professional standards and
interior design services.
There are many different schools of thought, some focusing on
creating a classic, timeless beauty, while others are looking
for something more edgy and progressive. At the core of all modern
designs is the oh-so-human fear of living in an uninspired cookie-cutter
hulk of a house and languishing in our own apathy. A good architect
interior designer will find a way to excite the client about their
dwelling space again.
All About The Eight Pillars Of Design
When it comes to architecture and interior design, award-winning
professional interior designer Russell Versaci says it is all
about the "Eight Pillars of Design," which are: invent
within the rules; respect the character of the place; tell a story
over time; build for the ages; detail for authenticity; craft
with natural materials; create the patina of age; and incorporate
modern conveniences. So what does Versaci mean by "follow
the rules?"
He says that custom designs can often stem from studious tradition,
so it is good to use the past as a guideline. You "respect
its character" by working with the surrounding land and topography,
rather than cutting down all the trees and leveling hills. To
"tell a story," architects can create a storyboard of
past additions to envision what innovative designs made it what
it is today. To "build for the ages," high quality building
materials should be used.
Wood, Stone And Pine Have A Vibe
Molding, roofing, windows and details should follow the old character
of the house to "detail for authenticity." Materials
like wood, stone and pine have a vibe that synthetic materials
just can’t match, Versaci adds, which is what he means by "natural
materials."
To "create the patina of age," it’s okay to leave some
elements of the home old and weathered or vintage-looking; weathered
bricks, salvaged mantles or antique door knobs, for instance.
Lastly, the home should be outfitted with modern heating, plumbing,
air conditioning, computer wiring, hidden control panels and security
systems.
Best Custom Designs
This year, many residential architecture interior design projects
made the list of the American Institute of Architect’s best custom
designs. These interior design trends showcase what the modern
American spirit is all about. For instance, architect Thomas A.
Roszak designed a home in Northfield, Illinois that sought to
open up his living space.
The 8,200-square-foot house relocated the kitchen next to the
kid’s playroom and blends one room into the next along the first
floor, with glass panel walls dividing each space. Digital light,
HVAC, audio, security and video systems further modernized this
cutting-edge home, giving its owners a sense of total control
over their space. The colors also promote sociability and uses
autumn foliage colors to bring a part of the landscape into play,
harmonizing the setting, the jury said.
Big Interior Design Trends
Architecture interior design will certainly be following several
big interior design trends. Environmental, sustainable design
will remain hugely popular, courtesy of consumer demand, as architects
look at ways to not only incorporate more recycled and eco-friendly
building materials into their works, but also blend indoor-outdoor
features to create a more harmonious atmosphere.
Indoor water features, plant-life, natural lighting and natural
building materials, like wood and stone, are likely to reappear
in new, innovative designs. Another anticipated trend is creating
homes that are not just aesthetically-pleasing, but that are utilitarian
and functional as well. Hidden storage spaces, control panels,
built-in bookshelves and sensible space usage will prevail. These
are just a few of the interior design ideas to look out for.

Little Known Interior Design Facts....
What is interior design?
Interior design is when someone plans and lays
out the furnishing, color and textures that are going to go into a
certain space. It may be a certain style of door in an office building
or it could be lighting features in a hotel. It could be the feel of the
fabric that is on a sofa in a living room of a home. It is everything that
is found within an interior space.
