Camping For Fun
By Leaf Treehorn
As a relatively generic word, camping means different things
to different people. It may remind some of hiking through a forest
or backpacking in the mountains. Or perhaps, it brings to mind
a time when you and your best friend used to set up a tent in
the backyard and try to stay out there and awake as long as you
could.
This usually meant you stayed unless it got too cold or rained.
You would have stayed out in the rain, but of course mom said
no. Many kids enjoy going to summer camp so they can hang out
with a bunch of other kids and tell ghost stories around the campfire
while everyone pretends they are not really scared.
You can’t admit you are actually afraid because that’s not cool
and they may make fun of you. Yet you are already thinking about
the camping gear you may need for next summer, as well as planning
your revenge for the year before.
A Great Camping Adventure
You have talked about it several times, but have never actually
done it, so why not now? Pack up the family, hop into an RV camper
and head out for a great camping adventure. Planning ahead for
such things, such as making sure there are campgrounds or RV services
available for your trip can save many headaches later. Also be
sure to check and see if reservations are required at any of the
places where you are planning to stop.
If you are planning to travel in an RV camper, then plan ahead
and find out if any of the locations you plan to camp in have
restrictions in place. They may not allow motorized vehicles of
any kind, or maybe there is day use only and they have no overnight
accommodations available.
This type of planning helps to avoid what could be a huge problem
for you, not to mention having to deal with "are we there
yet?" from the kids.
Lake Campground With Swimming And Fishing
If you have not already decided where you plan to go, then consider
a lake campground where there will be swimming, fishing or just
relaxing options for everyone. Remember to call and double check
on what, if any, restrictions are applicable for the locations
you plan on visiting.
If it is getting late and you have not been able to locate a
family campground or anything else suitable, then you do have
other choices. Since you more than likely have all the equipment
that you need in the RV, you can either keep going or stop somewhere
for the night and then head out again in the morning.
The kids will have a great time even if they complained initially
that they didn’t want to go camping. If you look closely, you
may even see some smiles on their faces.

Little Known Camping Facts....
Are there expeditions that involve camping?
There are some great expeditions that involve
camping. Some try to make it a fun filled activity by including
horse back riding, canoeing, rafting or even mountain climbing.
You should check into some of the different excursions that are
available.
One of the most popular in recent years
involves being flown out to a small island and then being left
there for three days or so. You get to experience what true camping
is like by providing for yourself during that time. If you are
taking small children or elderly you may want to find a more sedate
expedition that is a little safer.
