Carpet Installation Requires Knowledge And Skills
By Joel F Mornigstar
When many people decide to redo their homes, the first thing
that they think of is the carpet that they want to purchase. This
in turn brings up the issue of carpet installation. The first
thing that you will want to think about is whether you will be
having the carpet professionally installed or you will be tackling
the job yourself.
First, determine if you think that you can accurately complete
the job. Once you have decided who will be installing the carpet,
the next step is to take accurate measurements and then decide
on the carpet and underlay you will be using. While there are
a lot of questions involved in the process of installing carpet,
the end result will most likely leave you smiling, no matter who
completes the job.
Installing The Carpet Yourself
It is very possible for most people to install their own carpeting.
While there are a few things that you will need to know before
starting, it can be done. The first question that needs to be
answered before installing your carpets is just how much carpet
material you will need.
This will have to be decided regardless of whether the carpet
is being professionally installed or whether you are doing it
yourself. Exact measurements need to be taken of the floor area
in which the carpet will be installed. If you are not sure, then
you can ask a representative from the store where you are purchasing
the carpeting to help you.
Require Measurements Of The Length And Width Of Room
It is much better to have a professional make the calculations
than to make them yourself and take the chance of not having enough.
For the flooring representative to make the calculations, you
will simply need to provide them with the measurements of the
width and the length of the room in which you will be installing
the carpet.
After you have accurately decided how much carpet you will need
and you have picked out the carpet you want to use for the carpet
installation, you will need to pick out and purchase your underlay.
The underlay is the padding that is placed under the carpet and
it is of the utmost importance.
Find Out Quality Of Underlay Best For Your Home
The quality of the underlay is almost as important as the quality
of the carpet. If you choose an underlay that is too thin, then
it can show on the carpet, with regard to wear and tear. Be careful
to find out exactly what underlay is best for your home.
Whether you consult a website, read a book or call an expert,
it is a good idea to get some quality information before trying
carpet installation on your own. While it can be done, if it is
something that you have never done before, then it can be a little
frustrating.
It is best to get all of the facts up front so that you will
know exactly what you are getting yourself into before you start.
So, get some good information before you begin tearing up the
old carpet.

Little Known Home Decorating Facts....
What is carpet made of?
Carpet can be made of several different types
of fibers ranging from natural fibers such as cotton and bamboo.
It can also be made of synthetic fibers such as nylon and polypropylene.
Some newer synthetic fibers are polyester and PTT polymer.
Each of the different types of fibers has
a certain characteristic that makes them desirable to different
customers. Some want durability whereas others are more concerned
that the carpet is made from natural fibers which will cost more.
The carpet fiber that you pick will be
determined by how heavily it will be used. High traffic areas
do much better with synthetic fibers and can actually reduce the
amount of dust allergens. If cost is a major factor then you most
definitely want to go with a synthetic blend versus a natural
fiber.
Most carpets today are made with synthetic
fibers and are done with a machine. But you can still find hand-made
carpets made of natural fibers. You can expect to pay more for
the natural fiber carpets that are hand made and stitched or woven
on a loom.
Rugs, lamps, pictures and throws can be overwhelming to someone
without decorating experience. Items that look great in pictures
seem to not go well with your furniture or vice versa. It takes
a bit of knowledge and creativity to bring together different
elements into one cohesive, beautiful design.
