Chandelier Garden Nursery Landscaping Guide
Chandelier Improves Style
By Joel F Morningstar
Chandeliers used to be considered stuffy and out of date, but
today they simply drip with style. Chandeliers can brighten and
decorate any room with class and elegance. With so many styles
available, it is important to review your options and decide what
you want your chandelier to do for the room in which you are placing
it.
Ideally, a chandelier should complement a room without distracting
from the rest of the design. Size is a major consideration, so
if you are designing a simple room, an elaborate or ornate lighting
fixture may look out of place.
Chandelier For A Specific Room In Your Home
However, a luxurious, richly decorated room can glow in the refracted
light of a spectacular crystal chandelier. By the same token,
a small fixture can fade into insignificance in a massive space.
Generally, for dining rooms, chandeliers should be twelve inches
shorter than the table’s width.
The proportions of the room to the fixture can be another crucial
decision. Measure both the room and any potential chandeliers
to make sure that it will fit without either getting lost or engulfing
your entire room.
Extra Lighting For Bigger Rooms
If the main function of a chandelier is lighting, then select
large chandeliers which bring extra luminosity to the room. In
general, traditional chandeliers are great for extra lighting,
while Tiffany chandeliers add a sense of graciousness. If you
prefer a traditional look, choose chandeliers that reflect directly
on the roof as it bounces back the lighting.
For brighter lighting, select chandeliers that direct light toward
the floor. Most people choose 40 or 60 watt bulbs, but feel free
to use stronger bulbs if you need more light. You can also use
accent lighting like lamps and even candles if you are having
a dinner party.
Making A Lasting Investment With Wrought Iron Chandeliers
Wrought iron chandeliers offer style and sophistication to your
home, at a fraction of the cost of a crystal chandelier. Additionally,
wrought iron lasts must longer, making your investment in the
product a lasting investment, versus the short shelf life of many
other chandelier materials.
However, crystal chandeliers remain the classic choice. Though
dining rooms are the settings most conventionally associated with
chandeliers, there’s nothing to stop you from using one to add
a stylish touch to any other room, including the bathroom. Just
make sure that it blends with the decor.
Combining materials and styles within one fixture is now a common
design trend. For example, you may find wrought iron chandeliers
with crystals hanging from it. This is a good option if you’re
adventurous and are willing to blend traditional design elements
with more contemporary pieces.
Choosing The Right Chandelier
However, be sure that you know how to properly install and care
for the piece so that it remains in showroom condition. Always
consider the weight of the fixture. Chandeliers heavier than 50
pounds have to be mounted more securely to the house’s structure.
Also be sure that you can maintain the crystals.
If you hate dusting and polishing, then don’t select an ornate
piece that comes with many crystal pieces that will need to be
cleaned individually. Choosing the right chandelier will ensure
that you have a fixture that you’ll love for years.

Little Known Home Lighting Facts....
What types of lighting should I be looking at for my home?
The type of light you need for your home
all depends on what style you prefer. Many people find that a
combination of overhead lights and lamps works best for their
homes.
Generally the overhead lights are used
when the entire room needs to be illuminated and the smaller lamps
are used when a person needs a light to illuminate up close. You
can also use track lighting to highlight architectural designs
or artwork.
Most homeowners do not use florescent lights.
This lighting is often very harsh and does not look as nice as
softer lights do. It really all depends on what you want.
You can mix a wide variety of lighting
types to achieve an overall effect that can be used day or night.
You can also change how your lights look by changing the wattage
of your bulbs.
