Dog’s Health Improved With Better Food And Exercise

By Rodger G Allenby

If you want to have your dog around for a long time, then it is very important to focus on the dog’s health. Feeding your dog on a regular basis, making sure that fresh water is always available, and providing exercise, discipline, grooming and affection are all part of ensuring that your animal will live a long and happy life.

While different dog breeds require more food or exercise, even small dogs need exercise and a healthy diet. Dog nutrition is a big part the animal’s overall health. While an animal may not rank as high as the children in a family, that doesn’t mean that it should be fed the cheapest brand of dog food out there.

A Healthy Dog Needs Quality Food And Exercise

It is important to review your options and look at the dog’s needs and see if there is a particular type of dog food that will meet those needs, while at the same time not drain too much from the family’s financial resources.

Along with quality food, your canine’s health depends greatly on the amount of exercise it gets. Leaving a dog locked up in the backyard with little space or incentive to really stretch out and run is only going to lead to health problems, as well as behavioral concerns.

Take Your Dog To A Park

Just like human beings, if a dog gets little exercise they will become weaker and will have difficulty burning any excess fat. While humans can make choices about how much food they consume and the level of exercise they receive, pets cannot. Make sure to let your dog exercise regularly at a park or any wide open area where it can run to his or her heart’s content.

A dog’s health also extends to general regular care. This includes clipping nails, so they don’t scratch themselves as well as items around the house; baths to clean them of dirt and any bugs that may be living in their fur; and just spending time with the animal.

The last point is particularly important as dogs tend to be social creatures and without obvious displays of affection, their dog behavior can turn negative. In some cases, neglected animals can quite literally lose the will to live.

Your Responsibility To Owning A Pet

Maintaining a dog’s health takes a considerable amount of time, energy and money. There is a sizeable investment and commitment that an owner makes when he or she takes on the responsibility of owning a pet.

It is important that a dog’s dietary, exercise and general care needs are met. If these basic needs are not met, then you risk having an animal that is not as healthy as it should be.

Little Known Facts About Dogs....

What are some common mistakes that pet owners make if they are not aware there are healthy dog tips out there?
The most common mistake that is made and highly advised against is feeding your dog from the table. Dogs should not be eating the same foods that you are. In some cases the food you eat could be deadly to the dog.

Healthy dog tips often involve what to feed and what not to feed but they can include other reminders. One reminder is to hide all of your cords or keep your new dog confined to one area.

If you have a puppy, the puppy will want to chew on any wood or cords it can get in its mouth. It will also chew up books if you are not diligent. Always be aware of what your new dog, or puppy, is doing.
