Flower Seeds In Container Gardens
By Suzzie T Franklin
Flower seeds are the perfect way for container garden to be made.
Various types of flowers can be started from seeds if they do
not have to begin from flower bulbs. When a person starts to build
garden masterpieces, they are usually careful with the type of
flowers they chose.
If one starts a flower bed with tiny seeds, the wait time for
a bountiful garden may be increased, but if one know how to start
the seeds beforehand, that time can be cut in half.
Check The Potting Mix
One way to make sure that flower seeds get the proper start is
to check the potting mix. Many potting mixes have special nutrients
added to the soil that can help the infant seed to maturity. If
one is planted deep enough in nutrient enriched soil, then more
then likely the seed will grow faster and larger than without
added nutrients.
So when one chooses a potting mix to help begin flower seeds,
make sure that added nutrients are in the mix. The best way to
ensure that is to read all the extras on the potting mix bag.
One of the best kinds of flower seeds to put into a container
garden is petunias. These are usually thought of as small plants
that are to be bought at the local nursery or discount garden
store such as Wal–Mart.
Tiny Seeds Will Produce Baby Plants
However, these plants do come from seeds and can easily be started
in containers six to eight weeks before the last frost. In that
germination time, these tiny seeds will produce baby plants that
can be moved to the outdoors with little to no effort. And the
rewards that petunias give the gardener are beyond anyone’s expectations.
Flower seeds are a great way to start a flower garden in a container.
However, if one starts seeds in the pot and later transplants
them, the flowers that can be produced have the potential to be
tremendous.
Petunias Are Heat Resistant
One of the best flower seeds to start inside are petunias. Once
the petunias are established, they should grow well with few problems
since they are heat resistant and have very little issues with
insects. If one keeps the soil moist to slightly dry these plants
will produce huge flowers and make any area a happier place.
One tip that the gardener should remember is to dead head the
blooms. This will keep the blooming period going all summer long,
and right up to the first killing frost. This will also keep the
appearance neat and beautiful of these sturdy plants that were
started from flower seeds.

Little Known Gardening Facts....
I am not good with growing things. Is there an easy container
garden that I can do?
The easiest container garden to have is a
herb garden. Most herbs require little maintenance and produce
very readily. The best advice when choosing which herbs to plant
would be to take a look at your spice cabinet.
What herbs do you use the most? Dill, chives, rosemary, oregano
and parsley are very easy to grow and are inexpensive. The greatest
advantage to having an herb garden, besides the fresh herbs to
enhance your dining experience, is that different herbs can be
grown together in the same container.
The important thing to remember, if you cannot identify the herb
by examining it, is to label what herb you planted and what section
you planted it in.
