Granite Countertop For Your Kitchen
By Joel F Morningstar
There are so many advantages to having a granite countertop;
it’s hard to list them all. The first advantage, of course, is
that the material is so readily available. Given the composition
of the earth, it’s not very hard to find granite, so you’ll never
lack for material if you want a countertop of this stone.
Another special feature is the multitude of granite colors. There
is your basic black, grey or light colors, but you’ll also find
greens, pinks, blues and any color in between.
Marbling Of Granite Colours
When you add the marbling, or the swirls, specks and veins of
highlight colors, every piece of granite is unique and every piece
will add drama to your kitchen or bathroom.
Perhaps more than the colors, though, the advantages people think
of to having a granite countertop are durability and strength.
No matter what uses it’s put to, a kitchen granite countertop
will survive them all.
Granite Withstands Heat
You can review your options and chop things on the surface, for
example, and the stone is so hard, it won’t scratch. (After
all, in order to cut granite, saws tipped with diamonds are needed).
Granite can also withstand heat, and won’t burn if you set
hot items on it, like frying pans, toaster ovens or griddles.
In the same way, vanity tops made of granite for the bathroom
will endure curling irons and blow dryers. The stone is highly
resistant to acid damage.
But another thing you’ll love about a granite countertop is how
sanitary it is. It doesn’t harbor bacteria, so having a countertop
of this material will be something of a dream come true, when
it comes to the sanitizing of your kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
Cleaning granite countertops is very easy, and if the stone is
well sealed and polished, it’s highly resistant to staining.
Adding Granite To Your Kitchen And Bath
Families will appreciate that a granite countertop is very kid-friendly
as well. In any family of growing, active children, such countertops
will get a lot of use, and they will survive it all.
But another advantage is that if countertops made of granite
are added to a home, they will add to the value of the property.
It is available in many colors, it’s durable and strong, and it
resists heat, staining and other usage, so why not add granite
to the kitchen and bath?

Little Known Remodeling Facts....
Are granite countertops custom made?
Most granite countertops are custom made
because most are all in one piece. You can find granite tiles
that you can install on your countertops but it does not have
the same look as that solid, smooth, one piece that covers your
entire counter.
Since most are custom made, the price reflects
this as well. Going with a custom made countertop does come with
some risks. If you measured yourself and did not measure correctly
the countertop is not going to fit correctly.
Once it has been made you are stuck with
the finished product. That is why it is very, very important to
have a professional come in and do the measurements for you.
