Hanging Flower Plants Welcome Visitors To Your Family Home

By Jon Kryer

Hanging flower plants on the front porch of your home, may be a perfect solution when you want to decorate your home with flowers. Hanging plants up in the sky, with living flowers in full bloom, promote harmony and are a welcome decoration to the family home.

If you do not have space for flowers in the front yard, or you just want flowers in many places around your home, including front and backyard, then hanging flower baskets may just be your solution.

You may have a stone walkway to your front door, a water fountain and a bird bath in the front yard. You may even have a small garden in the backyard, with a couple of miniature fruit trees, to supply fresh fruit for your family.

But the best decoration for your home, may be the hanging flower plants close to your front door.

Hanging Flower Baskets On The Front Porch

One of the things I remember about spending time at my grandmother’s house during the summer was her collection of hanging flower baskets. She had quite a few, and each of them had a different type of plant.

They all hung on her front porch, and I would spend quite a lot of time helping her water and trim the plants. There was one in particular that I loved the most. I have no idea what type of flower it was, but the flowers would often make a popping sound if you pinched them lightly before they opened.

No Longer Able To Care For Hanging Plants

My grandmother still has hanging flower baskets on her front porch, even though she no longer can care for them. My grandfather knows that she loves them, and he now cares for them because she is not longer able to walk out and water them herself.

She still has the same types of plants she had all those years ago, so I would guess they were her favorites as much as they were mine. Some of the hanging flower baskets that she has are the same ones she had then. Not the same type, but the same exact plant. Not only does she loves them, she is a whiz at keeping plants healthy. Sadly, this is not something I have inherited.

No Front Porch In My Home

I would love to have some hanging flower baskets on my front porch, but I don’t have much of a porch at the moment. It might be more of a stoop than anything, but there is room to hang something. When we buy our own house I will be sure to get all of the hanging flower baskets that I want.

When we buy, a front porch with enough room for the ones that I want will be one of the things high on the list. Though many wouldn’t make that a priority when buying a home, I most certainly will.

Keeping Pets Off Your Plants

If you love plants, but you have pets in your home, you may want to invest in a few hanging flower plants of your own. There are many plants that your pets can not eat, and you want to keep them up off of the ground, and you want to make sure there is no way to get to them.

You should also be careful to make sure that you pick up any leaves or petals that may fall from the plant so that your pets don’t eat those as well. You should still go with a safe plant, but it is always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to your pets, and your children as well.

Finding Out More ABout Safe Plants At Your Local Nursery

You can find out if the plants are dangerous to your pets and family, by asking at the nursery where you buy your plants. If the plants are dangerous, then do not buy them and buy alternative plants that will not affect the health of your pets or family.

Placing hanging flower plants at the front of your home, states something about the family inside the home. It is a family that loves to decorate their home sweet home and looks after the condition of their home. Just placing hanging plants infront of you door, gives a positive impression and it may even improve the value of your home.

You may not have room for a garden in the front yard, but you may have just enough room for one or two hanging flower plants.
