Metal Furniture Is Best For Outdoors
By Jon Kilts
Metal furniture pieces are a great option for families who want
to add furnishings to their outdoor living areas. Some of the
advantages of metal furniture is that it is very durable, is generally
very low maintenance and is designed to last through many seasons.
Most metal furniture is designed to be used in outside settings
and can be made of aluminum, wrought iron or stainless steel.
Most types are pre-treated with a coating to help resist rust
and corrosion, which adds to the life of the outdoor patio furniture
and also reduces the maintenance required to keep it looking great.
Aluminum Metal Furniture Is Very Lightweight
Aluminum metal furniture is probably the most common and what
people think of when they first think of furniture made of metal.
One of the most popular reasons for this is that aluminum patio
garden furniture is very lightweight, especially in contrast to
the heavier metals or solid wood furniture. And, it is known for
its durability and will not weaken and break over time like plastic
furniture.
In addition, it can easily be used to create collapsible and
foldable chairs and loungers, making them portable so they can
be taken along on camping trips or outings to the beach. This
is also very useful when it comes time to put away the outdoor
furniture for the season, as it is much easier to store when not
in use.

Wrought Iron Furniture For Outdoor Patio Settings
Wrought iron has long been a very popular type of metal furniture
as well, especially in outdoor patio garden settings and is a
traditional style of furniture that is found on the grounds of
many estates. Part of the reason for this is the incredible durability
that wrought iron is famous for.
Wrought iron metal furniture also has a long and proud history
in the expression of unique art and decor themes. Some the most
beautiful decorative patio furniture is made of wrought iron and
these pieces of art and beauty will endure for many generations
to enjoy.
Extremely Heavy
The greatest drawback to wrought iron metal furniture is that
it is extremely heavy and once an item is in place, that tends
to be its permanent home. This works well for some situations,
but it is a negative aspect for those who would like to enjoy
the decorative aspects of wrought iron, but who also need to have
flexibility and portability of their outdoor patio furniture.
Wrought iron must be carefully treated or it can be prone to
corrosion, which in turn can create excessive maintenance. However,
if carefully treated and well maintained, this furniture option
can outlast just about anything else on the market.
Stainless Steel Furniture Is Easy To Maintain
Stainless steel can also be a good option for outdoor patio metal
furniture. It is very easy to care for and maintain and it generally
features a more stylish, upscale and contemporary appearance.
It is heavier than aluminum, but also has a more substantial feel
too it.
Whichever type of metal furniture you decide is best for your
furniture patio and outdoor living needs, you will find many options
in styles and in price points that should meet anyone’s needs
and provide you with the durability that can only be found in
furniture made of metal.

Little Known Home Decorating Facts....
Does teak furniture need to be treated from outside elements?
Teak contains natural oils that will protect
it but it does not hurt to apply a finishing solution to protect it
further. This is especially true if the furniture is designed
to be outdoors.
It is easier to treat initially than to have to restore it later.
The natural color of untreated teak is a light ash but if it is
exposed to harsh chemicals it will turn black. A cleaning with
a mild cleanser and then a clear coat of sealer will help keep
your teak in great condition.
