Perennial Plants Gardening Nursery Landscaping Guide
Perennial Plants Decorating Your Garden
By Suzzie T Franklin
Every garden should include perennial plants and they are planted
at specific times of the year, depending on your local climatic
conditions. They help to keep your garden looking good, with a
variety of bright colors and plants available to cover any season.
Some perennial plants grow well in summer conditions, others in
spring time, while others love the cooler conditions during the
fall.
Perennials plants live for more than two years and can last a
lifetime with proper care. Perennials includes woody plants and
shrubs, trees and angiosperms. Flowering plants are angiosperms
where they grow in the spring and summer months, and then die
back during autumn and winter.
Difference Between Perennials And Annual Plants
These plants are different from annuals as they re-surface from
their root stock, rather than seeding again like annual plants.
Flowering plants in your garden or growing in your yard, are also
known as herbaceous perennials.
Once you take into consideration local climatic conditions, it
may be a good option to plant your flowers as if they are annual
plants, in order to restore and maintain the strength of the roots
of your perennials.
Some Trees Can Live Hundreds Of Years
Although perennials are designed to last more than a few years,
you can review your options and structure your soil and plan a
growing season to keep some of your smaller plants alive by taking
good care of them.
Some trees can live for over 3000 years, so if you plant a number
of smaller trees in your front or backyard, the plant can last
for generations if the soil around your house remains healthy.
Just like those giant Redwoods in California have lived for hundreds
and some even a couple of thousand years.
There are other perennial plants you can plant in your backyard,
like orchids and grasses. Another example, are ferns that can
grow inside and outside your home, can last for years, and some
fern species do not need much watering.
Specially Designed To Live Year To Year
Structural perennial plants are specially designed for the plant
to adapt to living year by year. The structures include rhizomes,
bulbs, tubers, woody crowns, strongly and firmly in order to transfer
nutrients to the plant.
These plant structures produce seeds and continue production
of the plant life during the growing season. There are some perennials
that survive through their bad seasons and still produce strong
and healthy plants during the growth phase.
You can buy seeds for perennial plants from your local garden
nursery or shop online.
