Plant Stand For An Indoor Garden

By Jon Kryer

Plant stand helps with keeping an indoor garden in your home. You can also use plant stands in the yard of your home, this helps when you have space restrictions and no room for a garden.

You can use a plant stand in the garden as it helps you place your plants above the ground, so the plants are not overtaken by weeds or eaten by slugs, snails and other garden pests.

Space Restrictions

I do not have a lot of space. As such, I would always be stepping on one plant to get to another. Gardening was a nightmare until I discovered plant stands.

Having the right plant stand is almost as important as having the right plant pots. As a terra-cotta plant pot can make your plants much healthier, a solid wrought iron plant stand can keep it out of the way.

Protect Your Plants From Weeds and Critters With A Plant Stand

It can stop you from stepping on it – something that is definitely important – but it can also help protect it from certain kinds of critters as well. Potted plants growing on the ground are much more susceptible to slugs, as well as to native weed species.

By putting all of your plants on a plant stand, you reduce the amount of time you have to spend weeding to them, tending to them, and treating them for various plant diseases.

Indoor Plant Stand

Of course, having a good indoor plant stand is even more important. When I first started growing nursery plants, I made the mistake of putting them on the coffee table. I figured that I could keep the table dry by putting a tray under the plants, controlling the amount of water carefully, and never bumping them.

In reality, however, it didn't work. Having plants on the coffee table is a bad idea. As soon as I had my first drinking party, someone knocked one of them over.

If they had been on a plant stand, no one would have done that. They would have been out of the way, Off in the corner where no one could bump into one of them while putting down or picking up a drink.

Wooden Indoor Plant Stand For Indoors

I prefer getting a wooden plant stand for indoors, but there are many other options available. Basically, you can choose something to compliment your décor. You can even use small tables as dedicated plant stands as long as you set them up so that no one will put things on them.

I now grow a lot of my flowering plants in pots in a number of plant stands around the house. They look so beautiful, just like the flower beds you get in a well landscaped property, except these flower beds are in a series of pots on a plant stand.

Growing Vegetables On A Plant Stand

I have also started to grow some of the small vegetable plants like pepper plant in large terra cotta pots placed on the plant stand. The large pots allows room for the pepper plant to grow and they seems very healthy and produce a lot of tasty peppers for my salads and meals.

Using a plant stand around the house is an ongoing experiment, until we get to the point where we meet success and then we can repeat that success by placing the same plant in the same conditions.

Now that we have an indoor garden using a number of plant stands around the house, we can see how it has helped to beautify the inside of the house and help keep the air clean.

The next challenge is to start an indoor herb garden on a plant stand.
