Polyester Rope Hammock Garden Nursery Landscaping Guide

Polyester Rope Hammock Can Better Withstand Weather Elements

By Joel F Morningstar

Hammocks are a great tool for relaxing in your backyard, cottage or campsite. There’s nothing like swaying in the gentle breeze of a warm summer evening. However, cotton hammocks are vulnerable to sun damage and mildew.

Instead of investing in a hammock swing or chair that won’t last more than two or three seasons, why not opt for a polyester rope hammock instead?

The main concern about the cotton rope hammock is its durability. Cotton hammocks are extremely comfortable because of their ability to conform to the shape of your body, but they will not stand up well under direct sunlight or in wet weather.

Longer Lasting And Better Durability

Cotton hammocks can grow mold and mildew, and insects and animals like to chew the fabric. Generally, you can expect a cotton hammock to last for about three years. If durability is your first priority, then opt for a polyester rope hammock.

This is especially important if you’re purchasing a portable hammock for camping or going to the beach. Polyester will stand up to the wear and tear and dampness better than cotton will.

Good Quality Soft Spun Polyester Rope Hammocks

Some people will argue that polyester will never be a substitute for cotton, but many companies now manufacture polyester products with the look and feel of cotton. However, you get what you pay for. Good quality, soft spun polyester rope hammocks will be nearly as comfortable as those made of cotton.

You can also get snug, cozy hammock accessories to make you more comfortable. You can also find a variety of styles and colors to match your existing home color scheme. Polyester pillows are particularly good because they are slow to fade even if exposed to direct sunlight.

Duracord Offers Durability Of Polyester And Softness Of Cotton

Duracord is the latest material to be used to manufacture hammocks and hammock chairs. This synthetic material offers the durability of polyester with the softness of cotton. There are a number of benefits to this type of hammock.

The material is fast drying so it doesn’t get moldy, and the stain resistant rope won’t fade in sunlight. Unlike natural fabrics like cotton, Duracord does not attract insects or rodents. Duracord can even be cleaned with bleach.

Try Before You Buy

Natural fibers usually don’t stand up well to the elements, so if durability is your first priority for a hammock, then the polyester rope hammock is definitely the way to go. However, although advances in technology have meant that high quality polyester is as comfortable as cotton, many people still prefer cotton hammocks when it comes to comfort.

Cotton hammocks can last for several seasons if taken care of properly, by keeping it dry and out of direct sunlight. When shopping for a hammock for yourself or perhaps a baby hammock for your little one, review your options and try both kinds of material and decide which best suits your taste and budget.
