Rose Plants For Your Own Roses

By Jeremy Goldstar

Rose plants are a beautiful plant to have in your flower beds, as long as you care to avoid the thorns protecting the flowers. You can mix a number of different rose plants blooming different color roses. My favourite are the white and the more popular red roses.

Pruning can be tricky as you want to avoid to cutting too much and not cutting enough to bring in more flowers the following year. You can avoid chemical fertilizer as I use organic fertilizer and the roses come out blooming.

Having your own rose garden means you will always have flowers for Mothers Day, Anniversary or any other special day in the life of the family. You may want to congratulate your princess for graduating from college by giving her a bunch of red roses with a white rose in the middle.

You may even want to thank your sweetheart for a making a delicious dinner on your birthday with a bunch of white roses. You don't have to ring the florist and place an order for your flowers. You can run to your garden, while you wife has gone shopping and when she comes back, you can greet her with white roses.

Watch Out For The Thorns Protecting The Flowers

Roses are known for their beauty and their thorns. It’s an old cliché that every rose has its thorns, but it is also very true. Anyone reaching for the almost perfect beauty of a rose must watch out for the thorns that grow to protect the flowers.

Some prefer to enjoy roses just once in a while when perhaps someone buys them for them, or they get them for themselves. However, some love to plant many rose plants so that they can enjoy their own each summer.

Rose plants take a lot of care, but many who have rose gardens feel the results are well worth the work they have to do. Gardening can be therapeutic, and many with rose plants enjoy the work as much as they enjoy the results.

Some choose to have a few roses mixed in with other types of plants and flowers, but the most stunning is when they have nothing but roses and perhaps a few accent plants to fill in some of the spaces.

Careful Pruning Of The Rose Plants

Rose plants require more care than most garden plants. For one things, they must be pruned each year for the plant to produce the most roses possible. This is not something anyone should do unless they are totally aware of what they are doing.

Some aren’t sure, and they prune too little or they take off way to much. Some just take it off in the wrong spots, and then later wonder what happened to their rose plants. When buying, always find out exactly what to do, and even then, you can find some great advice online about how and when to prune your plants to keep them as healthy as they can be.

Mix And Match Different Colours Of Roses

Also remember when buying rose plants that there are many different types and colors of roses. This means you can mix and match to make the rose garden of your dreams. Some prefer different colors, and if you only have a few plants, you may want to get just those colors.

However, if you have an entire garden of rose plants, you can mix and match all of the colors, and even the different sizes of buds and flowers. Whatever you choose though, the design is up to you.

It’s kind of hard to mess up a rose garden as long as you care for the plants. Whatever colors and sizes you choose will be beautiful.

Roses For Special Events

Taking care of your rose garden will mean you will always have flowers for important social events like Mothers Day and Anniversaries. One suggestion may be to give an extra rose for every year you are married. Fill the room and even the bath tub with rose petals. Just ensure you leave some flowers on the plant so that the rose plants continue to look beautiful.

White roses appeal to me the most and I like to give a bunch of white roses with a red rose in the middle. This idea seems to bring more happiness in our relationship as my wife realizes all the efforts I have made to bring those roses in her hands.

It makes it all the more worthwhile, when you have you have your own rose plants.
