You can spend a ton of money on decorating your home with the finest in furnishings and unique accessories, but if you overlook your window treatments, your sumptuous surroundings just won’t look complete. One of the best ways to tie your decor theme into a beautiful finished masterpiece is by using custom shades window blinds.

Window blinds come in a wide assortment of styles, material, colors and price ranges. From high-end luxurious shades to discount window blinds, there is something on the market to coordinate with the feel of your home and stay within your budget.

Custom Window Blinds As Not All Windows Are The Same

One of the primary reasons to seek out custom window blinds is because you have windows that are not standard size or that have unique angles, such with a trapezoid shaped window, or unique shapes, such as curving windows that would require custom arch blinds.

Bamboo blinds are one type of woven wood shades window blinds and they are becoming more and more popular of a choice in new window blinds. Bamboo shades also include complimentary natural elements, such as other grasses, in order to form a more full and unified window covering.

Environmentally Friendly Bamboo Blinds

Bamboo is considered a "green" material, because, unlike hardwoods, it is a grass which grows very rapidly and because of this is environmentally friendly, being both a natural and a renewable material.

Many people like the ambiance that bamboo gives a room with its warmth and natural, organic lines, it is often said that is is like bringing a piece of the outdoors inside. It also fits well with different design styles.

Most bamboo blinds are the natural color of dried bamboo which is a light golden tan, although is is also available in a lighter, almost bleached, tone, and in a dark tone reminiscent of burnt wood.

Woven Wood Shades

Matchstick blinds are one type of woven wood shades, and other varieties often combine other natural materials such as bamboo, reeds, jute, grasses, flax or linen. These natural materials are also good choices for those environmentally minded and come in a variety of weave density that determines how much light is allowed through.

Sheer window shades are popular, especially in southern regions where the sun is most intense and can damage furnishings even without direct sunlight exposure. Sheer shades allow for a soft and very light feeling to the room because the sheer panels allow lots of light in, and allow for some view, but can block up to 67% of the UV rays which are so damaging to furnishings.

Blocking Out UV Rays

When the vanes, that are between the fabric panels of sheer shades, are closed, up to 99% of UV rays are blocked and they also provide good light blockage for bedrooms as well. When fully retracted, these shades store into the headrail, becoming invisible and allowing for maximum viewing of the outdoor views.

Vertical shades window blinds are available either as the common vertical blinds or as sheer vertical shades and are most often used in applications where a very wide window area needs to be covered, in instances of glass sliding patio doors, or French doors.

Little Known Window Blinds Facts....

What are the price ranges?
Prices range from cheap to very expensive. The type of material used as well as the size plays a determining factor in the price range. An additional cost will also be if the company custom makes the blinds as well as if they install them for you. Standard sized windows usually run the cheapest since they can be mass produced. Oversize windows require customization. The windows that have the blinds in between are the most expensive.
