Toddler Swing Sets For Your Smaller Child
By James Morrison
When you’re planning to get your kids started with a swing set,
of course you don’t want to leave your smallest, walking child
out of the picture. You can find toddler swing sets among the
larger, more standard sets, though the range of choices is not
quite as broad.
Manufacturers tend to regard the sets for toddlers mainly as
a small subset of the larger range of general play sets for kids.
This is probably reasonable when taking a review of your options,
since children will remain at a size that fits the standard sets
for much longer than they are toddlers.
Add-On To Bigger Swing Sets
In many cases, it’s not even accurate to give toddler swing sets
the label of "sets," since many companies only sell
toddler swings as add-ons to the bigger sets. For example, among
the sets sold by Rainbow Play Systems, Inc., the full bucket and
half bucket swings for smaller children are listed only as accessories
that would be added to regular swing sets as desired.
These buckets are made of sturdy plastic and either have a strap
across the front, or a plastic extension that comes all the way
up to the waist, effectively creating leg holes. Play Nation,
too, includes a full bucket only among the swing accessories that
can optionally be added to a regular swing set.
Stand Lower Than A Regular Swing Set
There are some companies that make complete swing sets for toddlers,
however, in size ranges that fit the toddler size more readily.
For example, Little Tikes features several sets that don’t just
have secure swings but come with a wide range of slides, club
houses, small climbing walls, or even a little tunnel.
These kids’ swing sets are made in the United States, of sturdy
colored plastic, and even the most elaborate sells for no more
than $200. They stand lower than a regular swing set, and all
the elements are designed with extra security for the smaller
child.
You will need to decide whether you want to go the route of seeking
out complete toddler swing sets, or whether it will be enough
just to add toddler swings to a larger set that could be used
by more children.
Always Supervise Your Children
While you need to supervise the kids no matter which set you
choose, you would certainly need to be more constantly vigilant
if your toddler is playing on the larger set, despite the security
of the bucket swings.
A larger swing set will serve you and your children for much
longer, but a toddler set might ease your mind, at least for that
first tricky year or two.

Little Known Facts About Swing Sets....
Now, more than ever, parents have to be worried about the amount
of exercise their child gets each day. Far too many children are
vegetating in front of a television or a computer rather than
going outside to play. One way you can get your child outside
is to buy a swing set.
Kids love to play on swing sets. You can drive past any school
yard or playground and the swings are always filled with laughing
children. Your child will love a swing set for their birthday
or Christmas.
