Window Box Garden Nursery Landscaping Guide
Decorate With A Window Box Garden
By Jennifer Dullard
A window box garden can accent any empty window space. With the
right combination of plants in a planter garden, the perfect balance
can be achieved with the decor of the home. However, buying a
window box that will last for years to come can be a tricky thing
to do.
In order to buy the right type of window box garden planter a
person must be aware of all the choices that are on the market
today. Everything from various materials and colors can make a
consumer go mad with stress unless they have already decided what
is best for them.
Before a person decides what kind of window box garden container
they want to complement their garden, they must make a few other
decisions first. One is to decide what a window box garden will
do for the facade of the home.
The garden can completely blend in with the outside decor, or
it can be in total contrast with it. And some have even been known
to continue the same plants in the garden up to the window. The
other important thing to consider is what plants will be in the
window box garden.
Outside The Kitchen Window
If the garden is going to be outside the kitchen window, will
it have fresh herbs right for picking, or will it be flowing with
beautiful flowers for smelling and enjoying? The color scheme
is also important for both the container and the flowers also.
So many choices are to be made and the container has yet to even
be looked at.
When people think of buying a window box garden planter they
usually do not take the time to consider their purchase. However,
in order to have beautiful ornamental plants or even edible plants,
one must choose to buy the right box that is rot and insect resistant.
The Metal Window Box Garden Will Last A Long Time
Metal, wood pine, cedar, plastic, and thick composite plastic
material are just a few of the options available. Metal is great
but very expensive. The window box garden planters made of this
material will last forever especially the copper ones. But if
that is out of one’s budget, wood pine or cedar may work better.
The downside of using any wood is that eventually it will rot.
Wood pine will deteriorate quickly when exposed to the elements,
and cedar will do the same when it comes in contact with dirt
and moisture. If wood is the choice of an individual, then make
sure that the box is pressure treated lumber otherwise the investment
will be for nothing.
Plastic Planters
Plastic planters are abundant and can be found easily enough.
They are also rather inexpensive, but when frozen, they can crack
and this can cause one’s beautiful planter box garden to be destroyed
in an instant.
A window box garden can offer up something that most gardens
can not. With a box garden, one can stay in their pajamas and
care for their plants. A large plot of land is not needed in order
to have the most beautiful flowers around.
A person can pick wonderful ornamental grasses and beautiful
flowers to overflow and make the facade of the house that more
inviting.

Little Known Gardening Facts....
My garden is dead, what do I do with the huge box container
in my backyard?
If your container is easily moved, consider
transporting it to a corner of your yard and cover it. The box
can also be used as a compost pile to get a jump on next year’s
garden.
The soil within your garden may have lost some of its nutrients
but there are ways to bring them back. Consider planting something
different in the garden. Winter vegetables and plants can make
that barren box come alive again.
